Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) and the Italian Society of Immunology, Clinical Immunology, and Allergology (SIICA), it is my profound honor to invite you to the European Congress of Immunology 2027 (ECI 2027), held in the breathtaking city of Florence from September 5th to 8th, 2027.

A Renaissance of Science

We gather in the “Cradle of the Renaissance,” a city that once redefined the boundaries of human thought, art, and discovery. Just as Brunelleschi and Michelangelo looked at the world with new eyes centuries ago, we find ourselves today in the midst of a Scientific Renaissance.

Florence is the perfect stage to reflect on how far we have come. The spirit of humanism that defines this city reminds us that at the center of every laboratory experiment and clinical trial is the human life we strive to protect and enhance.

Celebrating Excellence and Innovation

The field of immunology is currently experiencing an era of unprecedented momentum. In recent years, the key role of our discipline in medicine has been repeatedly underscored by Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine, from the identification of fundamental mechanisms at the basis of innate immunity and immune responses regulation, to the revolutionary development of mRNA technology and cancer immunotherapy. These milestones have not only expanded our knowledge, they have also paved the way to innovations that will save millions of lives.

At ECI 2027, we will explore the cutting edge of these advancements and their applications:

  • Next-generation Cell Therapies: Moving beyond current boundaries to immunomediated disorders and tumors.

  • Precision Immunology: Utilizing AI and high-dimensional single-cell technologies to tailor treatments to the individual.

  • Systems Immunology: Understanding the complex networks that govern our immune response through advanced computational modeling.

Join Us in Florence

Beyond enjoying a cutting-edge scientific program, I invite you to wander through the streets of Florence, where history speaks from every corner. Let the beauty of the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio inspires your discussions and foster new collaborations that will shape the future of medicine. We look forward to welcoming you to Florence for a congress that promises to be as transformative as the city itself.

Let us write together the next chapter of the immunological Renaissance in Florence.

Warmest regards,

Francesco Annunziato
President of the European Congress of Immunology 2027
